High School Graduation Love Offering Request

Dear High School Graduate:

Congratulations! You pressed your way through homework, term papers, STAR Testing, and final exams in order pursuit of your high school diploma. Whether you intend to continue your education or choose to enter the workforce, receiving your high school diploma is something special. You are to be commended for your determination and perseverance. This is truly a reason to be proud and celebrate. On behalf of Pastor Perkins and the entire First Baptist Church family, we offer congratulations to you!

Students who will graduate high school this current school year may be eligible to receive a love offering in recognition of this milestone achievement. To be eligible, you must be an active member of First Baptist Church for a minimum of six-months. Please complete this application form and submit to the Church Office by the end of the month of April so that you can be publicly recognized at the Scholarship Ministry Baccalaureate Service.

Scholarship Application Eligibility Requirements:

1) Must be an active member of First Baptist Church of Pittsburg for a minimum of six months. (Note: Completion of New Members class is required to be considered for scholarships) (2 points)

2) High School graduate ( 2 points)

3) Letters of Recommendation. Minimum of three (3); at least one letter from a high school counselor or teacher who has personal knowledge of student’s academic performance and potential and at least one letter from a church officer or ministry leader. (3 points)

4) Minimum Grade Point Average
a) 3.5 to 4.0 = 4 points
b) 3.0 to 3.4 = 3 points
c) 2.9 to 2.5 = 2 points
d) 2.0 to 2.4 = 1 point
e) Less than 2.0 = 0 points

Note: Students who are awarded a scholarship must be enrolled in and complete a minimum of 12 units per semester/quarter. Students must submit written proof of enrollment in 12 or more units and their current grade point average. Scholarships are only valid for the fall / spring school term. No requests will be approved if requested after the spring semester/quarter.

5) Student Essay (5 points)

6) Ministry Participation (1 pt. per ministry, maximum 3 points)

7) Regular Church Attendance (3 out of 4 Sundays) (3 points)

8) Sunday School Attendance (2 points)

9) Bible Study Attendance (2 points)

10) Community/Volunteer Service (minimum 6 months service) (2 points)

11) Youth/Christian Workshops/Conventions (1 point)

12) Ministry Officer (1 point)

Maximum points possible (30 points)
